History of the MDJ

Before the creation of MDJ A-MA-BAIE, the youth of Cloverdale had a community center. Unfortunately, this community center closed after being opened for only a few years. At this point the youth of the neighborhood no longer had a place to call their own. The community only offered what they could - a summer sports team which was ran only by volunteers. It was then the Cloverdale council, which is made up of over 15 different organizations and institutions, who made the youth and their families a priority and a reason for change. Many resources were put into place in response to the urgent need of the community. Collective kitchens, multiethnic associations, popular restaurants and a prevention program for the youth were all part of the change in the Cloverdale community. Amongst  the changes, the Maison des Jeunes A-MA-BAIE was established on July 17 1990.

The opening of MDJ has allowed an increase in the promotion of education and has helped bring together multiethnic neighborhood.
